Original WW1 British Army Officers Cuff Rank Service Dress Tunic

This is the dress uniform of a British officer from World War I, a captain in the Norfolk Regiment, one of the historic infantry regiments of the British Army. The tailored cut, insignia on the cuffs, and regimental buttons reflect the authority and responsibility that company-level officers carried during the Great War (1914–1918).

Of particular note is the original whistle cord — officers used their whistles to signal attacks, halt movements, and convey commands above the noise of the battlefield. Worn over the shoulder and attached to the uniform, it was both a practical tool and a visible sign of leadership on the battlefield.

Such uniforms were tailored individually to the officers' measurements, combining military regulations and individual craftsmanship. This preserved example, associated with the Norfolk Regiment, is a real fragment of British history of World War I and the history of officers.

Condition is not bad for its age; Regimental Collar Badges are missing, there are several stitched holes under the armpit and on the upper right pocket; there is a hole under the upper right pocket where the belt was (along the seam). The lining under the armpits is torn and has been ‘patched’ in several places.
