Vespri Siciliani Original 'Thrashed' Opera Stage Costume

This distressed two-piece costume originates from the wardrobe department of Opernhaus Zürich. From the internal label, it is clear that the costume originates from a production of Verdi’s "Vespri Siciliani" and was made for the performer Maurizio.

The opera itself is steeped in themes of rebellion, betrayal, and shadowed political intrigue. On stage, garments like this were intentionally aged and distressed to evoke hardship, decay, and the dramatic atmosphere surrounding the story.

Today the piece remains as a theatrical artifact — carrying traces of performance, stage lighting, and the mysterious world of opera where costume, character, and narrative merge.

In good condition; one pant leg is shorter than the other.
