Soviet 'VKK-6M' High Altitude Flight Suit

Regular price $666.00

Developed for Soviet high-altitude aviation during the Cold War, the VKK-6M was built as a mechanical extension of the pilot’s body. Pneumatic tubes, tensioning cords and reinforced sections compressed the wearer under extreme acceleration or sudden cabin depressurisation—a system designed for survival beyond the limits of ordinary flight clothing.

Marked Soviet size 9.

One surname on the identification label has been crossed out and replaced by another, suggesting reassignment between two pilots. Yet the suit itself shows remarkably little evidence of active service, as though it remained stored after passing from one name to the next.

Preserved in excellent overall condition, with its original olive colour intact. The metal zippers remain functional, although light oxidation causes them to catch slightly. A single hole is present on one shoulder. Dense fabric, exposed lacing and ageing pneumatic connections give the piece the appearance of an abandoned pressure system—silent equipment preserved from the architecture of high-altitude flight.

Measurements:
• PIT TO PIT – 47.5 cm / 18.7 in
• SLEEVE LENGTH FROM NECK – 78 cm / 30.7 in
• INSEAM LENGTH – 77 cm / 30.3 in
• LENGTH FROM SHOULDER TO HEM – 149 cm / 58.7 in
