AW1986 Katharine Hamnett Denim Cargo Bomber

Regular price $1,600.00 Sale price $1,444.00

A rare example of Katharine Hamnett’s early utilitarian style — a period when political self-expression was combined with functional clothing.

The jacket, crafted from heavy indigo denim, is built around a complex, almost architectural system of pockets. Asymmetrical cargo pockets, layered panels, and reinforced seams create a silhouette that looks both industrial and thoughtfully designed. Each element serves a purpose, but together they form something that was clearly ahead of its time.

The construction echoes ideas later developed by designers such as Raf Simons, particularly in his approach to modular clothing and reimagined workwear.

The denim has developed character over time — natural fading across the surface, barely noticeable signs of wear that highlight the garment’s depth rather than detract from it. The cuffs are slightly frayed — there are small holes. A small yellow stain. The fabric retains its integrity, and the patina reflects time and use.
This is more than just clothing — it is an early document of the transition from traditional workwear to conceptual, design-oriented clothing.

Please do not expect the garment to be new or in perfect condition; there may be minor defects (used clothing).
