1980s USSR Holdall Sports Bag

A 1984 Soviet sports holdall, dated to the year the Soviet Union boycotted the Los Angeles Olympic Games. The monumental CCCP / USSR graphics carry the tension of late Cold War sports culture — bold, utilitarian and unmistakably Soviet.

Large, spacious and practical, with sturdy handles, a zipped closure and an internal pocket. The bag remains in worn vintage condition with stains, scuffs and heavy patina. A hole on one side is held together with a cluster of metal safety pins, giving the piece a raw, almost post-industrial character. A powerful fragment of late-Soviet sporting history.
