1950s Soviet Army 'Galife' Trousers

Dated 1955, these Soviet military breeches belong to a period when the cavalry silhouette had evolved into standard field uniform. Their wide hips allowed freedom of movement, while the sharply tapered legs were designed to sit cleanly inside tall military boots. Cut from dense cotton twill, they retain a severe high waist and adjustable rear cinch. Front stains, surface abrasion and heavily oxidised rusted buttons preserve the raw utilitarian character of the original construction.
