A Soviet officer’s field map case, later adapted with a 1952-dated military belt — turning a strict utilitarian object into something almost industrial, somewhere between military archive and early steampunk. Inside remains a small Kyiv-issued civil-defense booklet on protection from atomic weapons, alongside the original layout: a large folding transparent map compartment, a separate storage section, and fitted slots for pens and field accessories.

The case is heavily worn in the right way — darkened leather, softened edges and years of surface patina, while the Soviet star buckle has developed a muted layer of oxidation. A functional object that has slowly become an artifact.
