1940s German Flying Pilot Leather Suit

This German wartime one-piece leather suit remains an object of uncertain origin. Opinions differ: an early aviation flight suit, or possibly equipment connected to the Kriegsmarine. RiRi zippers, heavy black leather and khaki wool lining form a brutal shell built for another age.

Preserved in heavy, unrestored archival condition. The leather is dense, dirty and deeply aged, with a strong old storage smell. Metal hardware is oxidized; the zippers jam, several are damaged or broken. The khaki wool lining is torn and riddled with holes.

More armour than clothing — a dark fragment of wartime material history.
