1930s German Three-Piece Evening Suit

Cut in substantial black wool with broad satin-faced lapels, a low formal waistcoat and wide, high-waisted trousers. Its massive proportions create a severe, shadowed silhouette — formalwear with an almost architectural weight.

The jacket bears the Leonhard Tietz Akt. Ges. label, belonging to the historic Jewish-founded German department store that was forcibly renamed in 1933. The trousers are period-correct and closely complement the jacket and waistcoat; as is common with early formalwear, there are subtle differences in the buttons and internal lining.
Overall condition is good for its age, with several small holes on the front and sleeve of the jacket; the rear trouser pocket has been repaired and sewn closed. A remarkably complete surviving ensemble from pre-war Germany.

Please do not expect the garment to be new or in perfect condition; there may be minor defects (used clothing).
