1900s Edwardian Swiss Two Piece Wool Sack Suit

Regular price $1.00

An early 20th-century five-button sack suit, crafted in Europe and bearing an interior label marked “Genova.” The elongated silhouette, high-button stance, cloth-covered buttons, and structured waistcoat reflect the formal tailoring traditions of the Edwardian era.

Sack suits of this period represented the transition from 19th-century frock coats to the modern lounge suit, embodying a refined yet practical approach to menswear. The clean black wool construction and restrained detailing suggest a formal town or ceremonial suit, tailored with durability and elegance in mind.

A rare surviving example of early continental tailoring — a piece that captures the disciplined silhouette and craftsmanship of pre-WWI European dress.

Surprisingly in very good condition. All buttons are in place, pleasant fabric that is not soft to the touch (thick wool with a pronounced weave), coat lining in good condition. There are several stains on the vest lining. There may be small snags/holes on the back of the coat.

Please do not expect the garment to be new or in perfect condition, there may be minor defects (used clothing).
